Today I am going to make a delicious and every body’s favourite dish that is Prawn do-piaza. Do-piaza mean two onions. This dish goes well with capati (Indian roti) and Rice. I will have serve prawn do-piaza with curd rice.

- 1 large onion cut into very thin slices (half lengthwise and then crosswise into slices)
- 4 garlic cloves chopped finely
- 2 inch ginger, cut into thin slices
- 1 green chilli, cut into thin slices, crosswise
- One large size vine tomato, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (any refine oil will do)
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala (Indian mixed spice, bought or homemade)
- ½ teaspoon coriander powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin powder
- A pinch of turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Red chilli powder – as per your need
- Chopped coriander leaves for garnish
Method:
- Heat the oil in a big heavy frying pan
- Add green chilli, chopped garlic and chopped ginger and cook for a minute
- Then add pieces of onion and fry gently until translucent but not brown (well not too brown)
- Add turmeric powder and chopped tomatoes and mix well. Wait for 2 to 3 minutes till tomatoes get soft.
- Then add ground spices, red chilli powder and let it cook till 2 to 3 minutes
- Now add prawns, salt and mix well. At this stage if you feel masala mix is sticking to pan, then add one or two spoons of water. Cover, turn heat to low and cook for 10 minutes.
- Once done, remove do-piaza into a serving dish and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
